ALIOSCIA HAMMA

I am a theoretical physicist whose main interest is quantum mechanics, especially in its modern form of quantum information theory. My research activity involves many topics such as Quantum Algorithms, Foundations of Quantum Mechanics, Black Hole Physics, Quantum Chaos, Classical and Quantum complexity, and Statistical Mechanics.

One of my main interests is the understanding of emergent complex behavior in quantum mechanics, entanglement theory, and quantum complexity.

I am associate professor at the department of physics `Ettore Pancini' at the university Federico II of Naples, Italy.

I completed my PhD at the same university and previously held postdoctoral positions at the University of Southern California, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics before becoming associate professor at Tsinghua University and then at the University of Massachusetts Boston.

Stefano Cusumano

Stefano Cusumano is a researcher in quantum physics, mostly working in Quantum Information Theory, Quantum Thermodynamics, Open Quantum Systems, Quantum Complexity and connections thereof. After education in Palermo and Pisa, he moved to Gdansk at the International Centre for Theory of Quantum Technologies, before moving to Naples in Prof. Hamma's group.

Research Fellow

Alessandro Amabile

Alessandro Amabile graduated in physics and got his PhD with a dissertation devoted to the so-called Antikythera Mechanism (SIF Prize for the History of Physics 2023). He made research in history of mathematical physics and physics education and since 2019 holds a physics laboratory at University Suor Orsola Benincasa, Naples. Since 2021 he is teacher of mathematics and sciences in middle school (now on research leave) and collaborates with the editor Zanichelli. His current research focuses on developing new strategies for teaching quantum mechanics at high-school level within the framework of Quantum Information Theory.

Jovan Odavić

Jovan Odavić main focus of research is quantum many-body systems. He earned his Ph.D. from RWTH Aachen University in 2019, focusing on low dimensional quantum many-body systems. His research spans statistical mechanics, quantum information, chaos, and integrability. His recent work includes the study of stabilizer entropy, entanglement complexity, and the role of non-stabilizerness in quantum systems. Passionate about theoretical physics, Jovan continues to push the boundaries of our understanding of quantum complexity.

Lorenzo Campos Venuti

Lorenzo Campos Venuti's main research focus are: Condensed Matter Physics, Quantum Information Processing. He earned his Ph.D. in Condensed Matter from the University of Stuttgart, Germany, in 2003, and an M.S. in Physics from the University of Bologna, Italy, in 1998. Following his doctoral studies, he served as a Research Scientist at the Institute for Scientific Interchange (ISI) in Turin, Italy, from December 2001 to August 2011.

Simone Cepollaro

Simone Cepollaro is a PhD student at Scuola Superiore Meridionale (SSM) in Naples. His research is essentially on the theoretical exploration of quantum mechanics within the operational framework of quantum information. He is particularly intrigued by the interplay between quantum phenomena and spacetime structure, with a focus on quantum simulations of quantum spacetime theories, the black hole information paradox, and harvesting quantum resources.

Gianluca Esposito

Gianluca Esposito is a PhD student at Scuola Superiore Meridionale (SSM) in Naples. His primary research focus is Quantum Information Theory. His research explores topics such as quantum complexity and quantum resource theory. One of his main interests is understanding the behavior of states under the action of quantum maps from a non-stabilizer resources perspective.

Barbara Jasser is a PhD student at Scuola Superiore Meridionale (SSM) in Naples, her main research interests are on the frontiers of quantum theory, with focus on quantum complexity, the emergence of quantum chaos, and the interplay between quantum complexity and quantum advantage to understand emergent complex behaviour in quantum mechanics.

Daniele Iannotti graduated in Physics at University La Sapienza in Rome and he did his master at University of Trieste. He is conducting research in quantum gravity and quantum information at the Scuola Superiore Meridionale (SSM), Italy. Academically, he is interested in mathematical formulations of dualities using tools from quantum information theory.

Michela Nazzaro is a PhD student in Quantum Technologies at the University of Naples Federico II. After graduating in Quantum Physics she enrolled a corporate career becoming an R&D (Research and Development) manager in international company.
